M.V. Prosecco, Capolsado – With a light color and alcohol of 11.5% alcohol content, this super effervescent bubbler was easy to quaff. Apparently, the grapes were hand harvested from the steep vineyards in the Veneto, but I find that hard to believe for such an inexpensive sparkler ($16). I had a brutal cold and was out of Alka Seltzer, so I staggered down to Ron’s Liquor store, purchased this and drank an entire bottle to lift my spirits. It worked. Last tasted winter of 2010 Drink now
M.V. Prosecco, Bele Casel – It has a lot of bubbles and a rubbery tennis ball character. Yes, this reminded me of the green fur on a brand new tennis ball. I know it had a lemony citrus quality too making for a nice head rush. Just when you thought you couldn't drink anymore, you drink this and you're back to life for awhile. Last tasted 2007 Drink now

Wine and Waves

I'm lucky to be a 31-year-old surf punk that gets to sample rare wines like the 1922 Pol Roger, the 1959 Petrus and the 2001 D.R.C. Richebourg--that doesn't mean those wines are always good, or worth the price. Since I've worked as a sommelier (in Monterey, CA) for high-end restaurants like Casanova, the Sardine Factory, and Marinus, I've honed my palate and I can choose a good bottle that won't break the bank. When I have enough time and money, I like to travel with my girl Lindsay Jackson to places with great wine and waves. I'm a certified sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers) and am available to drink wine. Call: 831-521-8606 or e-mail: pwetterau@gmail.com
